Big Dreams

Big Dreams

Nothing honors God more than a big dream that is way beyond our ability to accomplish.
Why?
Because there is no way we can take credit for it!

Would we risk looking foolish by drawing a prayer circle and committing to it?
I had never considered that it may have seemed foolish for David to take on Goliath,
or Peter to step out of the boat. . . . I always was just impressed with their faith
and their willingness to trust God entirely.

"In order to experience a miracle, you have to take a risk."

What sticks out to me in this part of the chapter is, "Circle makers are risk takers." I feel like there should be an explanation point at the end of that statement that actually shows excitement. It makes me ask, "should I take more risks?" I seem to play things safe. "What risks should I take?" I would like a God to make the risks perfectly clear to me. I believe I should step out in faith more often know God is waiting to bless me. Why do I find this so difficult?

Risks scare us. . . just look at the definition! This is probably why we are to be bold!
: the possibility that something bad or unpleasant (such as an injury or a loss) will happen
: someone or something that may cause something bad or unpleasant to happen
: a person or thing that someone judges to be a good or bad choice for insurance, a loan, etc.

This short little introduction to the next chapters spoke volumes to me. I had never really thought about how my memory of the past is taking the place of what I can imagine for the future. This then causes me to be so afraid I will repeat the past that I dwell there more than dreaming about what God has for my future. God does not want us to live that way. He wants us to live by faith, not by what has happened in our past, or by what seems logical. On pg. 45 it says, "We lose faith in the God who gave us the big dream and settle for a small dream that we can accomplish without His help." Wow, does that sound like me! So many of my dreams are things I know I can accomplish on my own. I want to get to the point that my dreams are dreams only God can accomplish! As it also said in the book, nothing honors God more than a big dream that is beyond our ability to accomplish. We need to be risk takers and draw a circle around the big dreams we have. God is more than able to make those dreams come true!
